Advice

Hi all

I've just got my results from my polysomnography and MSLT. Before this I reduced my dose and came off Pregabalin, Fluoxetine and Zolpidem. I'm currently taking no medication and wasn't taking any during the sleep studies.

I've been told today that my sleep was very fragmented for both studies and the actiwatch I did for a few weeks beforehand at home. Apparently nothing significant is showing up other than this 😑 he asked about daytime sleepiness and how long my sleep has been a problem.

He has suggested I keep a diary for the next few weeks and condense my sleep. So go to bed at midnight and wake up at 8am everyday and avoid daytime naps 🥴

I'm disappointed with my results, as I was hoping something would show to at least then help with the daytime sleepiness problem. I can see why the consultant has suggested this route initially, before trying medications. I'm skeptical though!

Has this been suggested for anyone else before? How did you cope with the condensed sleep schedule?!

  1. So sorry to hear that you were unable to get any satisfying answers about your excessive daytime sleepiness! As a person with narcolepsy, my doctor recommended that I keep a stable sleep schedule (going to bed and waking up at the same time each night and morning) and also prescribed scheduled daytime naps. Idiopathic Hypersomnia (IH) is a diagnosis that is often used for people who experience excessive daytime sleepiness with no apparent cause. Maybe this is something you can talk to your doctor about. If you'd like to read more about IH you can check out this article here: https://narcolepsy.sleep-disorders.net/idiopathic-hypersomnia-treatment Warmest regards, Tatiana (narcolepsy.sleep-disorders.net Team member)
