Have you found sunlight to affect your sleep?

Have you found sunlight (or the lack thereof) to affect your ability to sleep? For example, during daylight saving time in the summertime when there is a lot more sun or if you visit a place closer to the poles that have periods of a lot of sunlight and little sunlight?

I'd love to learn more about your experiences!

  1. Hmm interesting question! The sun definitely makes me more sleepy and I think on a similar strand if I have been out in the sun a lot say when on holiday in a hot place I am more physically exhausted so I think that helps. The sun is definitely an energy drainer for me! It's worth noting though, that unless somewhere has air con, it might be more difficult to sleep because of the heat so it can be give and take! I have never been close to the poles but I can imagine that must be very disorienting, either way. Would be good to be able to just get up and go for a walk or something if you were having insomnia in the middle of the night but it's still light outside, though! Best Wishes, Lauren (Team Member)

    1. I've never actually really thought about it like this but now I'm realising that when I was living in London, I was suffering a lot more from bouts of insomnia. Now I live in a hot country with constant sun and I sleep much better! I'm not sure if there is a correlation but for some reason having a clear day/night transition helps me to sleep better I think. Weird huh?

      1. That's really interesting! One point on the side of living in a hot place with N then! The sun increases my sleepiness but might level off if you get a better nights sleep! Plus all the good endorphins of the sunshine! Best Wishes, Lauren

      2. Yeah, there's always like a good side but then also a down side lol. The heat increases my sleepiness during the day too! Take care, Iris xxx
