How do you manage daily life regarding driving? My radius is approximately 5 miles, and that is after a nap and with medications. How do people with narcolepsy manage to get places safely?
Ì do not agree with most PWN driving. I believe it's a tragedy waiting to happen. My N was well controlled for quite sometime. I could always tell when a sleep attack was going to happen. Overnight I started just going out, it can happen fast.

I gave up my license. I don't want to hurt anyone.

I frequently drive 2 hours to visit my parents. I take the route that has several small towns, in case I get sleepy. I also pack snacks and several drinks for the road, water, soda and an energy drink. Starbucks helps too 😁.

That’s the thing that drives me crazy it’s getting where I can figure out in the morning when I wake up if I’m going to have a good day or not. So I would like to drive to town to the grocery store, which is only 8 miles from my house, but my family is afraid for me to drive.

The doctor took my license when I was diagnosed cause I finally got tested when I had a head on collision luckily no one got hurt but I live in a rural area also I can get an Uber to pick me up from my house but when I’m done I can’t get anyone to pick me back up so I have to make it a round trip and rush grab a few things at a time so they don’t leave me I have one friend that helps when she can but she has her own family all of my family has passed away so I’m on my own

I wish you had more support. It sounds so stressful to have an Uber driver always waiting while you shop or have appointments. Rural living can be tough when you can't drive. Do you do a lot of shopping online? Have you ever considered contracting with someone local to be your on-call driver? Many of the Amish where I live do that. They agree upon a hourly rate and pay local retirees to take them where they need to go on an as-needed basis. The retirees earn a bit of money without a huge commitment.
