Cataplexy Over The Years

Does anyone else feel as though their cataplexy is getting worse with time?

  1. I beleive that cetaplexy is a long-term symptom of this disease. I've had Narcolepsy since approx. 2009; however, I didn't begin to develop cataplexy symptoms until about 2020.
I've taken a few nasty falls by just simply turning tand ore a few ligaments in the process. It took some time to heal as well- i've been using a cane ever since. I don't know when it's going to happen again!

    1. Wow that's so scary! I'm so sorry that this happened to you! I definitely agree that it's a long-term symptom...and for me at least, it feels as though it's the one that doesn't seem to get better for anyone. I hope that your cane will at least prevent any accidents from happening again!

I find it interesting that your cataplexy symptoms took so long to emerge. Cataplexy was actually one of my very first symptoms. If you feel comfortable, would love it if you shared your story in our Stories section! (https://narcolepsy.sleep-disorders.net/stories)

That's only if you want to of course!

Thanks so much for sharing this with us anyways! It's always so good to know that we're not alone in these experiences.

      Take care, Iris xxx
