The Beginning of Narcolepsy
I'm 76, it started when I was in 4th grade, chasing my friend home, suddenly I thought there was a huge bumblebee buzzing around my head, I started ducking and dodging trying to locate it when I realized there was no bee, perplexed I wondered what had just happened.
My first narcolepsy symptoms
All of a sudden out of nowhere I felt something happening physically in my head, and at its peak I felt as if I stood in front of a huge Chinese gong and something struck the other side, the vibrations increased so strong I was trying to hold on to the nearest thing which were bushes, unable to hold on to the bushes I fell to the ground feeling the vibrations going through me.
Then they dissipated and left, leaving me lying on the ground, all I could say was wow, what was that, then I told myself ok get up and shocked I couldn't move, I kept trying and eventually I was able to turn over and pull myself up on a tree, the vibrations had left but now trying to walk.
I felt as if I were pulling a ton of weights behind me. I barely made it from tree to tree and building to building to get home.
My friend had ran ahead and got my mother by the time I made it to the corner of my street, I saw my mother coming towards me. I still felt like I was dragging a ton of weights. The closer my mother got the more relieved and happier I begin to feel and just as she reached me and touched me, it all disappeared.
Just the beginning of narcolepsy
Ma asked me what happened. All I could tell her was that I had some kind of attack that made me feel really tired but I'm ok now. That was the beginning of narcolepsy for me. It worsened from there that was about 1958.
