Doctors
After finally receiving the correct diagnosis, I had a great doctor for many years, he actually listened to me.
When a good narcolepsy doctor changes
Then, I retired and had to get a Medicare Advantage Plan. I found a good one however, the IPA was bought out by Dignity and they only allow their doctors.
I now have to see a doctor who treats me like a guinea pig. He wants to take me off the only meds that worked for me and try things I have tried in the past and failed working.
Every month it is a fight to get a refill on anything so I'm going without meds for over a week then, he only prescribes 15 days.
Missing my old narcolepsy doctor
My former doctor gave me prescriptions for 3 months at a time which made life so much less stressful! I had to go on a scheduled trip without meds to get me through which has ruined my trip.
Being forced to change doctors after years of a working relationship is truly wrong. It isn't even medical care in my opinion. I truly wish there was a homeopathic medication that would work for narcolepsy and cataplexy so that I wouldn't need to rely on an MD quack!
