Pain

I am new here. I am wondering if muscle or joint pain in different places at different times is at all associated with narcolepsy.?

  1. I switched from nuvigil to provigil because of insurance and have had a lot of muscle aches. I wondered this too!

    1. Hi . Muscle aches can be among the more problematic side effects of Provigil. If you haven't already, you should tell your doctor as soon as possible and maybe switch to something else. Though muscle aches are not uncommon among people with narcolepsy, the timing of the onset for you might indicate that the issues are medication-related. Keep me posted if you don't mind. I will be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Hi . Welcome to the community! Although many people with narcolepsy report joint pain, there doesn't appear to be an "official" correlation. That just means that researchers don't understand the connection yet. Very often, the emergence of one autoimmune disease opens the door for others. So, it is possible your joint pain is caused by another health condition, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Have you ever seen a rheumatologist? It might be a good idea. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
