Does anyone experience recurring catatonia with cataplexy and constant sleep attacks?

Health services in my area are unaware of narcolepsy resulting in misdiagnosis and incorrect treatments. At age 18 sudden onset of symptoms started during the pandemic, psychiatry and neurology ruled everything but covid and sleep disorders out. Now awaiting respiratory sleep medicine to take over. Brain scans have all been clear and there is no genetic narcolepsy but there are many autoimmune health problems in the family. Has anyone experienced anything that could help?

  1. Hi . I'm glad you are finally getting an accurate diagnosis and the help that you need. There are treatments available that can help control cataplexy and keep you awake during the day. Here is an article about treatments that you might find helpful while you wait for input from others in the community: https://narcolepsy.sleep-disorders.net/treatments. Please keep us posted. We'd like to know how you are doing. Warm wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
